Manufacturing Engineer

Jonaco has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer on our first and second shifts. Summary

Reports to the Director of Operations. The position is responsible for implementing opportunities for improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize machining/manufacturing and improvement principles, analysis and organizational skills to participate in or lead:
    • Implementation of solutions to machining related manufacturing improvement opportunities
    • Continuous improvement projects to reduce cost and improve performance
    • Customer driven development and engineering projects
    • Product transfers between equipment and/or multiple sites
  • Gather data and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Troubleshoot machining processes for product quality and reliability issues
  • Use technical writing skills to:
    • Create work instructions and operating standards for all areas of the business
    • Create and deliver documentation and training to assure consistent manufacturing and inspection techniques, methods and systems
    • Communicate concepts, methods, tracking and general reporting

  • Required:
    • 3-5 years metal working industry experience with progressively increasing responsibility
    • Must have the ability to materially participate in and/or lead:
  • Continuous improvement/lean manufacturing projects
  • Manufacturing equipment optimization
  • Data driven process improvement
  • Development and deployment of standard work documentation
    • Ability to integrate across departments to push through challenging obstacles to success
    • Ability to prepare and communicate project plans and see through to completion
    • Ability to interpret blueprints and product specification documents
    • Exposure to ISO9000 / AS9100 quality systems

 

Education and/or Experience:  Associate’s degree (A. A.) from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience. BS in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering/Technology or equivalent technical discipline preferred. CNC Mill / CNC Lathe programming experience also desirable.

 

General Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, operating and maintenance instructions, safety rules and procedural manuals.  Ability to write routine reports, performance reviews and general professional correspondence.   Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and looks for ways to improve and promote quality.

 

Quantity: Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity.

Utilization of PC and MS Office software.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as portability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
